About Me
The person
behind
the code.
Curious by nature. Precise by practice. I build digital experiences that sit at the intersection of engineering rigor and human-centered design.

My Story
Built from
curiosity.
Alex Morgan
Senior Full-Stack Engineer
The Beginning
I wrote my first line of code at thirteen — a clunky HTML page with a blinking cursor and a MIDI soundtrack that nobody asked for. But something clicked. The idea that you could conjure something from nothing, that logic and creativity could coexist in the same breath, became an obsession I never outgrew.
Education & Formation
I studied Computer Science at UC Berkeley, where I specialized in Human-Computer Interaction and distributed systems. My thesis explored adaptive UI patterns in low-bandwidth environments — a project that taught me that the best engineering is invisible, and the best design is felt rather than seen.
Outside the classroom, I co-founded the university's first open-source collective, shipping tools used by over 4,000 students across three campuses. That experience — building for real users with real constraints — shaped everything that came after.
Professional Philosophy
I believe software is a craft. Not a commodity, not a checkbox — a craft. Every API endpoint, every component, every database schema is a decision that compounds over time. I write code that my future self won't curse at 2am, and I build systems that scale gracefully rather than collapse dramatically.
My approach is relentlessly user-first. I've sat in enough post-mortems to know that technical elegance means nothing if the person on the other end of the screen is confused, frustrated, or underserved. The best products I've built started with deep empathy and ended with clean architecture.
What Drives Me
"I'm not just building features. I'm building the infrastructure for someone's idea to reach the world. That responsibility is something I take seriously — and something I genuinely love."

Career Journey
Eight years.
Every step
intentional.
From a junior engineer debugging CSS at midnight to leading cross-functional teams shipping products used by millions — here's the journey that shaped how I think, build, and lead.
Present
Staff Engineer
Vercel — San Francisco, CA
Leading the Developer Experience platform team, architecting the next generation of deployment infrastructure. Responsible for a system processing over 2 billion requests per day. Mentoring a team of 9 engineers across three time zones.
2021 – 2024
Senior Software Engineer
Stripe — Remote
Core contributor to Stripe's Dashboard redesign — a project that reduced merchant onboarding time by 34%. Built the component library adopted by 60+ internal teams. Led the accessibility initiative that brought the product to WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
2019 – 2021
Software Engineer II
Figma — San Francisco, CA
Joined Figma at Series C as one of 40 engineers. Owned the real-time collaboration engine's conflict resolution layer. Shipped the Auto Layout feature that became one of Figma's most-used capabilities, cited in over 12,000 community tutorials.
2017 – 2019
Software Engineer
Airbnb — San Francisco, CA
First full-time role out of university. Embedded in the Payments team, building fraud detection pipelines and checkout flow optimizations that increased conversion by 8% globally. Learned what it means to ship at scale — and to own your mistakes.
2016 – 2017
Freelance Developer
Independent — Remote
Immediately after graduation, took on freelance contracts to build real-world experience fast. Delivered 11 client projects in 14 months — from e-commerce platforms to internal tooling for a Series A startup. Learned to scope, estimate, and communicate like a professional.
2015
B.S. Computer Science
UC Berkeley — Berkeley, CA
Graduated with Honors. Thesis: "Adaptive Interface Patterns for Constrained Network Environments." Co-founded the Berkeley Open Source Collective. Completed internships at two YC-backed startups. The foundation of everything that followed.
